Street map of Jerusalem’s old city

Modern Jerusalem is nowadays a huge metropolis, which is not only the largest city in the state of Israel, but is also the most populated one.

However, when it comes to site seeing Jerusalem, there is no need to refer to the whole city, as tourists will find no significant points of interest in almost any neighborhood of Jerusalem except the city center.

If in your map of Jerusalem east and west parts are included, you’re probably wasting your time with that map.

Jerusalem’s Old City
Jerusalem’s old city consists of an enormous amount of historical buildings in a pretty small area, which provides good material for tourists and their guides.

The old city is split into 4 quartiers, which reflect the 4 populations of the city prior to the 19th century’s massive Jewish immigration to the city. These quartiers are the Muslim, the Christian, the Jewish and the Armenian. The Muslim quartier is the largest one while the Armenian is the smallest.

A street map of Jerusalem’s old city will therefore divide the city into these 4 quartiers, and the routes and suggested sites will be split equivalently.

3 Different Tours of the Old City
There are 3 different common tours of Jerusalem, based on the religion you’re interested in. This is simply because you can’t tour the whole city at once due to the plenty of sites that exist in the city.

The Jewish tour will be based mainly on the old city, but will also include the Jewish neighborhoods that surround the old city from the western side.

The Muslim tour will include the Muslim quartier and in east Jerusalem. The Christian tour will be based on the Christian and Armenian quartiers, and also various Christian area throughout the other neighborhoods of the city.
